Truths and Partial Truths #SexySnippets #WeekendWritingWarriors

Welcome to Sexy Snippets and Weekend Writing Warriors, where authors share 7-8 lines/sentences of a book or work in progress.

I’ve continuing  on with my very drafty draft of my partially written story, Unnatural Allies.  In last week’s snippet, Evan invites Nicca to share his bed, but he’s pretty forthright about his intentions–perhaps too much so.  As a reminder, the last lines were:

“I’ll never lie to you, Nicca. So yes, that’s partially true.”

Her heart sagged inside her chest as hope bled out of it.

Here is what happens next.

“It’s also true that I find you genuinely lovely.” That black piercing gaze that saw everything drilled hope back inside her. “I’ve lost myself in the glorious storm of your eyes more times than I can count.”

His other hand moved to her waist and slid over the too large arch of her hip to lightly knead her ass. “I want to bury myself deep in these curves, wallow in the strength of this flesh.” Her nipples stiffened until they hurt. She willed his touch upward to relieve the ache.

Come back next week and I’ll continue with the scene.

Blurb in Progress (NB: This is my first attempt at adding humor in a blurb)

Violent fae encroachment on shifter land has heated up. With death tolls rising, the impossible became necessary – an alliance among predator and prey shifters.

Nicca Baron, lone wolf and wolf clan beta, finds herself under the command of Evan Grant, the rat alpha.  Under different circumstances, he’d be dinner. Something her wolf never fails to remind her of.   Evan is one hot, smart rat who proves damn good at what he does. Suddenly, being dinner takes on a very different meaning.

To rule the rats, you have to rule the pack. Evan Grant is a whiz at managing people and groups. Until he found himself leading a mission made up of every single large animal that thrived on rat flesh. And not the kind between his legs.  The only bright light in the mission is Nicca. Her storm gray eyes miss nothing, her brilliant mind comprehends everything and her succulent curves are the perfect place for a rat to hide for days and nights.

In each others arms, Nicca and Evan discover love and acceptance. But a wolf cannot mate with a rat, no matter the strength of the human attraction.

Where this story begins (You can meet Nicca and Evan briefly in my current release)

Blurb:

On the night of the full moon, any male shifter can call the Trials to race against Talia Orion, alpha of the united wolf-eagle clans. Clan law requires Talia to marry the winner of the Trials, a grueling twenty-mile marathon through dangerous, rugged terrain. Talia, the product of an unhappy, political alliance masquerading as a marriage, trains obsessively to ensure she avoids her parents’ fate.  Her newest vampire trainer, Hayden Mitchell, makes her powerful even as he knocks down her defenses, and finds his way into her heart. Hayden has loved Talia since the first moment he saw her. As the destined ruler of the vampire clan, he has another agenda to politically unite Talia’s clans with his own—what Talia fears most, and will never forgive him for.
